Iraq agrees with 3 companies to check imported goods from their countries of origin

Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq's Planning Ministry has concluded agreements with 3 new companies to check allgoods imported for Iraq in their countries of origin, after the failure of one of 2 companies to implement their commitmentsin this respect, a Planning Ministry media spokesman reported on Thursday. "Our Ministry has concluded agreements with 3 out of 7 international companies, that shared in a competition to checkgoods imported by Iraq at their countries of origin," Abdul-Zahra al-Hindawi, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, refusing togive the names of those companies or their countries of origin, justifying that with "the Ministry's initial phase to implementthe said agreements."

Hindawi said that "a Swiss company had neglected its duty and did not abide itself by the conditions of the contract, signedwith it," pointing out that "the Planning Ministry might cancel its contract, fact that would enable other companies acting inIraq to check up the goods imported by their countries, that are 4 companies. Noteworthy is that the Planning Ministry began to implement the goods imported by Iraq from countries of origin, for which it had signed contracts with French and Swiss companies to implement the said system, in order to avoid the entrance of bad material into the country.
