DEWA organizes introductory presentations for the UK Trade and Investment mission

UAE, Dubai, 19 January 2012 : Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ( DEWA ), , has organized in the presence of H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD & CEO of DEWA , EVPs, and VPs introductory presentations on its strategy and water projects for the UK Trade and Investment mission headed by Adil Khan, UK Trade & Investment Advisor at the British Embassy in UAE, and the participation of many specialized British companies in the field of waste water. These presentations were organized at DEWA 's headquarter within the framework of exchanging the best practices and experiences.

The series of presentations started with a welcome note addressed by H.E. the MD & CEO of DEWA mentioning the earlier meeting with The Right Honorable The Lord Marland, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the matters of joint interests which were discussed during that meeting.

Confirmed.

This was not achieved overnight and is the result of commitment and dedication to deliver the very best service to the people of Dubai, and this has resulted in a success story, based on our core principle of operational excellence." H.E. added

"I trust that this meeting will enhance the ties between DEWA and the business community of the United Kingdom, with its innovative range of technologies and services. Let this be the start of many more future milestones." H.E. concluded

Following the welcome note, a number of introductory presentations were delivered starting with a presentation by Khawla Al Mehairi, VP-Marketing & Corporate Communication emphasizing the importance of strategic leadership and innovation as key drivers to achieve DEWA 's vision as a recognized world-class utility, and how its leadership has played a major role in supporting the continuity of excellence in DEWA .

" DEWA is regarded as one of the best and recognized utilities in the world after having conducted benchmarks with similar authorities in developed countries. Customers' lost minutes have reached 8.7 minutes in 2010, in comparison with 24 lost minutes in European Union countries. As for efficiency and reliability, DEWA comes first at international levels in terms of reduction of electricity loss; 3.8% in 2010, which is considered one of the lowest and best percentages at world levels when compared with 6% in Europe and America", she added.

Al Mehairi also pointed out that DEWA is striving to achieve excellence performance results through the application a global excellence example and continuation of development initiative to instill a culture of excellence in the government sector employees.

DEWA is the first government authority in the Middle East to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for its implementation of the Balanced Scorecard and its adherence to the five principles of the Strategy Focused Organization, which were developed by the creators of the Balanced Scorecard, Drs. Kaplan and Norton, who have praised DEWA 's achievements in this field.

Later on, Mr. Abdullah Obaidullah, EVP - Water & Civil, delivered a speech welcoming the UK mission delegation and Branly Nassour, VP-Water P&E New Connections and member of the WETEX Organizing Committee has provided a detailed visual presentation on the current and future water project in DEWA as well as a brief presentation on the 14^th WETEX 2012 session.

On his part, the UK mission has explained, after delivering an introductory presentation on the British Companies specialized in water sector, that the number of participating companies in the UK Stand in WETEX 2012, will witness an increase to 15 companies compared to 10 companies participated in the previous session of the exhibition.

At the end of the visit, the visiting delegation extended its appreciation and thanks to H.E. the MD and CEO of DEWA and EVPs, VPs for the warm reception and the information provided during its visit which will contribute in enhancing the relations of cooperation, exchange of experiences and experts for the best interest of the two parties.
