CNG Distribution Capacity Rises Domestic Economy Desk

So far 1,820 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations have become operational across country and the figure is expected to hit 2,000 by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20).

According to Mehr News Agency, distribution capacity of CNG increased to 2 million normal cubic meters per hours.

About 18 million cubic meters of natural gas are presently being supplied to CNG stations per day and this helps the country to save a daily volume of 18 million liters of gasoline.

Presently 10,550 CNG nozzles are used in CNG stations while more than 2,600 CNG-fueled vehicles are on the roads in Iran.

With $4 billion worth of investments made by the government and private sector, CNG comprises about 25 percent of fuel basket of the country.

Managing director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Jalil Salari said earlier surpassing Pakistan, Iran ranked first among Asian nations in terms of establishment and development of (CNG) stations He, referred to the rapid development of CNG industry during the fourth and fifth five-year development plans and said the country's first rank in Asia pertains to the number of CNG stations.
