Qatar Petroleum to hold its first Occupational Health Conference in March
Doha, Qatar 10 January 2012 - Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP , the 1st Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health Conference will be held on March 20-21 here in Doha with the theme "Towards a Healthier Workforce."
The two-day event will bring together occupational health experts and practitioners for an in-depth discussion of best practices and innovative programs as well as the prevailing issues and challenges related to effective health management in the workplace.
"This initiative is part of our comprehensive efforts to implement programs and systems for safeguarding the health and ensuring the safety of all our employees as well as those of our joint venture partners and contractors," said H.E. Dr. Al-Sada in his official statement of support to the event. "The conference in March will undoubtedly go a long way in promoting knowledge-sharing and collaborative action to further raise the standard of occupational health practice here in Qatar."
Specifically, the conference will focus on a wide variety of topics, including workplace health promotion programs, the cardiovascular disease burden in the workplace, functional capacity assessment, work-related stress in the oil & gas industry, industrial hygiene regulatory framework and compliance, and sickness absence management.
Dr. Al-Jaidah was among the senior QP officials who addressed the media during a press conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel to announce the event. The other officials who were present included Mr. Ahmad Ali Abdulla Al-Mawlawi, Director Administration; Mr. Saad Ali Mohammed Saad Al-Kubaisi, Manager, Corporate Health, Safety and Environment; and Nasser Mohamed Ali Mubarak, Manager, Corporate HSE Support.
Up to 200 local, regional and international delegates are expected to attend the 1st Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health Conference, which is offered for free to qualified participants. The conference is primarily intended for occupational health practitioners, HSE professionals, human resources personnel, company physicians and nurses, wellness managers, mental health professionals, industrial hygienists, health advisors, ministry officials and academicians.
