DM organizes Gold Traders' Forum

Dubai Municipality has recently organized Gold Traders Forum in the premises of Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, Diera. About forty companies from gold traders and jewellery stones attended the forum.

Dubai Municipality representatives including Hawa Bastaki, Director of Dubai Central Laboratory Department, Eng. Khalid Abdul Rahim, Director of Customer Relations, and Ahmed Mulla, Director of Metrology Department at Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology were present on the occasion.

Mr. Ahmed Al Mulla introduced the local law of standards, which will be implemented at the beginning of 2012, on all gold shops at the state level.

Mr. Fareed, Head of Standards and Specifications Section in Dubai Central Laboratory introduced the Law to verify the gold and jewels measurement equipments, and the mechanism of cooperation between Municipality and Authority in order to implement the local order. He said it is very important to implement this law by the dealer or consumer as it benefits both parties.

Mr. Amin Ahmed, Head of Laboratory Inspection at DCL explained the flash system, which is one of the most important services provided by Dubai Municipality to gold traders, and he assured the importance of obtaining the flash system certificate so as to ensure the application of standards as per international best practices.

Mr. Ismail Almas, Head of Inspection Unit, said that Municipality carries out the periodic inspection of gold shops through a random selection of ten pieces from the shop, which is being tested to ensure that these stores mentioned the type of jewels and metals on the tag attached with pieces of jewels (weight and type of stone, ..... etc).

Aisha Al Mazroui, Head of Metals & Precious Jewels Inspection Unit said that the laboratory services are not limited only to the gold shops but any member of the community can benefit from the screening services.

She introduced most important equipments used by DCL to examine the pearls and diamonds, and test methods to ensure the retention of these jewels. She also shed light on the training courses offered by Dubai Municipality for gold traders and their employees in addition to the most important new services, which will be offered in 2012 , especially the mobile laboratory, which will save time and effort of the shops in the process of tests.

Hawa Bastaki honoured Mr. Biju, Director of Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group, for his cooperation in the success of the forum.

Khalid Abdul Rahim noted that this forum is part of an annual plan to communicate with the various categories of customers served by Dubai Municipality , in order to communicate and identify the most important needs of customers and their expectations.
