The Chairman of UAE Central Bank awarded an Honorary Degree in Doctorate of Laws from the University of Bath
Abu Dhabi, 28th December 2011: His Excellency Khalil Foulathi, Chairman of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates was bestowed an Honorary Doctorate of Laws (LLD) from The University of Bath in acknowledgement of the stellar public service work done by him throughout his career. Mr. Al Foulathi accepted the honor in a glittering Winter Graduation ceremony held at the University of Bath, which was attended by young graduates, faculty members, leading academicians and fellow Honorary Graduates from various walks of life.
University of Bath has a tradition of awarding degrees to Honorary Graduates every year along with the it's outgoing academic graduates batch. These Honourary degrees are conferred to individuals who are considered stalwarts in their respective fields, ranging from, but not limited to academics, politics, public service, social service, economics, humanities and the arts.
His Excellency Foultahi reminisced his days at the University of Bath when he was graduating as a student with an Honours degree in Economics and expressed his happiness to have joined the ranks of many prestigious men and women before him who have experienced this honour. He noted that in his career spanning over three decades, he has seen the world economy take its fair share of rough and tumble, and through it all his vision was to serve his country in the best way possible and to elevate UAE's position as a key player in the global economy.
Professor Christos Ioannidis, Head of Department, professor of Economics and Finance said: "His Excellency Mr. Khalil Al Foulathi is one of the rare personalities who act as a bridge between the Modern and the Arab World. While remaining true to his country's ideals he has managed to put the UAE as a key player in the global financial markets."
