Dewa begins work on Dh127m project

By Staff Report DUBAI - The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority , or Dewa , has started work on a new 1,200mm water pipeline project worth Dh127 million that extends to a distance of 23km, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

Dewa has started a project to supply, extend and launch a new water pipeline made of reinforced fibre glass to maintain an integrated and modernised infrastructure, to promote its services and to meet the growing demand for water, according to the utility.

Dewa managing director and chief executive officer Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said that the new project is part of the utility's strategy to enhance its efficiency and operational capacity, and to maintain an integrated and modernised infrastructure to increase water flow to both new and highly-populated areas.

"This new pipeline will serve various areas along Emirates Road," Al Tayer said, adding that the cost of the project will take about 13 months to be completed.
