The King of Morocco Mohamad VI Awards Prince Alwaleed His 60th Honorary Medal
HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company ( KHC ) visited the Kingdom of Morocco, during the visit HRH met His Majesty Mohammed VI at the Presidential Palace and a private meeting was held. HRH was accompanied by Dr. Nahlah Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH.
During the meeting, His Majesty Mohammed VI and Prince Alwaleed discussed a number of social and economic issues in addition to the economic relations between the two countries. His Majesty Mohammed VI bestowed upon HRH the "Grand Cross of the Order of Ouissam Alaouite", it is the highest honor granted in the Kingdom of Morocco, the award was in recognitions of his global efforts on the economic and humanitarian fronts . This medal is considered Prince Alwaleed"s 60th Honorary Medal.
Recently, Prince Alwaleed and HRH Prince Rachid inaugurated the Four Seasons Hotel, Marrakesh during Prince Alwaleed's visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. The event was attended by HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation that is chaired by Prince Alwaleed. The occasion was also attended by Mr. Sarmad Zok, Chairman and CEO of Kingdom Hotel Investments ( KHI ) wholly owned by KHC , Ms. Kathleen Taylor, President and Chief Executive Officer, Four seasons Hotels and Resorts, Mr. Fouad Makhlouf, Vice President, Design and Constructions KHI and Christopher R.J. Knable, Vice President, Asset Management KHI . HRH and HH were accompanied by a delegation that included Dr. Nahlah Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH, Ms. Hassna Alturki, Executive Assistant Manager, Travel and External Affairs Dept., Mr. Hani Agha, Senior Manager Travel and External Affairs Dept. and Mr. Hicham Fleihan, Manager Travel and External Affairs Dept.
The Prince's investments in Morocco through KHC in addition to the Four Seasons Hotel, Marrakesh include other hotel investments under construction in Morocco that will be management by companies in which KHC holds an interest like Fairmont and Mövenpick, and in the banking sector via Citigroup.
The Four Seasons Hotel, Marrakesh is under the management of Four Seasons in which KHC holds a 47.5% stake and is co-owned by Bill Gates' Cascade in which the company also holds a 47.5% stake, and 5% of the Four Seasons is owned by Isadore Sharp. Also, KHC owns a 33.3% stake in Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts. KHC holds a 35% stake in Fairmont Raffles Holdings International (FRHI).
In June 2011, Prince Alwaleed received at his office in Riyadh, Mr. Fathallah Sijilmassi, Director General of Moroccan Investment Development Agency (MIDA). In 2010, HRH received at his office in Riyadh HE Ahmed Reda Chami, Moroccan Minister of Trade and New Technologies and an accompanying business delegation.
In 2008, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al-Bishr Saudi Ambassador to Morocco received the Medal Awarded to HRH at 1st Meeting of Arab Gulf Investors in Morocco (Gulfinvest) on HRH's behalf in Rabat. The medal was an acknowledgement of Prince Alwaleed's achievements as a global investor. 1.1997: The Medal of the Presidency of the Italian Republic; awarded to Prince Alwaleed by The Scientific Committee of the Italian Pio Manzù International Research Centre, as a token of recognition of the Prince's highly successful and thriving career and outstanding business flair and acumen.
2. 1997: The Star Decoration of the First Order; awarded to Prince Alwaleed by the late, King Hussein Bin Talal of Jordan, in recognition of the Prince's regional and international investments and philanthropy.
3.1998: The National Cedar Decoration of the Commander Order; awarded to Prince Alwaleed by Former Lebanese President Elias Harawi in recognition of HRH's economic and social contributions to Lebanon.
4.1999: The Diplomatic Merit of the Heung Korean; awarded to Prince Alwaleed by President Kim Dae-Jung in recognition of the Prince's investments in Korea.
5. 2000: The Bethlehem 2000 Medal; awarded to Prince Alwaleed by Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat for his continuous support to the Palestinian cause.
6. 2001: Laila Utama Darja Kerabat Seri Utama Yang Amat Dihormati; the most esteemed royal family order, presented by Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah to Prince Alwaleed for promoting bilateral relations between Brunei and Saudi Arabia.
7. 2002: King AbdulAziz Medal of the First Order for Distinguished bangladeshsinessmen; awarded to Prince Alwaleed by Crown Prince Abdullah Bin AbdulAziz on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd.
