Business deals reached more than one million dollars at the DDTE 2011
Dubai - United Arab Emirates, December 1st 2011: The Dubai Drink Technology Expo (DDTE-2011) concluded three days of networking activities, showcasing the latest in beverage technology and trends across the industry.
The fourth edition of DDTE attracted nearly 10,000 visitors and saw the participation of more than 100 companies from 35 countries. The region's first Global Water and Beverage Technology Congress (GWBT Dubai 2011) was also held in conjunction with the DDTE.
Designed to promote the newest beverage products and services, drink processes, packaging systems and light machinery, the exhibition successfully gathered local and international brand owners, retailers, beverage service operators, manufacturers and processors, alongside various media representatives.
"We have almost finalized deals with some of the customers we were negotiating with over the last three days, and are close to signing an $800,000-sale of our complete filling machine for beverages", said Girish Nath, Sales Director at Tech Long.
Niall Sutton, Regional Manager for Business Development at Parker Domnick Hunter also found genuine interest from serious customers. "We received good-quality enquiries; people from the right companies who know what they're looking for - not time-wasting. The good thing about the size of this exhibition hall was that people got to see everything and meet most of the exhibitors they wanted", explained Sutton.
"We also found some potential in new customers that we hadn't come across before, and we expect to build or conclude business following the show", he added. Sutton led a seminar on nitrogen generators in beverage applications as part of the Global Water and Beverage Technology Congress that was held in conjunction with the DDTE.
Some exhibitors were visiting the region for the first time through their participation in the DDTE 2011. "This was our first time in the Middle East, and under this uncertain economy, we got very good feedback regarding our machines, which was encouraging. We feel lucky to be here and are considering returning next year", Andrew Lee, President of Etek commented.
China-based Etek is the owner of Dongguan Founder Machinery factory, which manufactures low-energy, lightweight, and low-carbon footprint PET bottles. The company received tremendous interest in its PET Strip Blowing Machine and expects to conclude deals shortly after the DDTE. "I think we will soon have some agreement or sale and we are very excited", said Lee.
Commenting on the importance of the beverage market to the economy, Dr. Ahmed Al Banna, Secretary General of the Arab Asian Beverage Alliance (AABA) said: "The manufacturing sector accounted for 13.5% of Dubai's GDP in 2010, and the beverage industry contributed to almost 8% of that, which means the beverage industry plays an important and key role in the manufacturing sector.
"Moreover, there are exceptional opportunities in the non-alcoholic beverage industry, especially in the form of support and assistance services for the beverage sector, such as the manufacture of glass and plastic containers and bottles, as well as lids, informational and promotional labels for those products", Dr. Al Banna added.
The DDTE is supported by the Ministry of Economy in the UAE, the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), Dubai's Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC), and the International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT).
