EADS Partners With Stars of Science Programme
• EADS Offers Internships At Research LaboratoriesPARIS/MUNICH, 29 November 2011 - EADS has partnered with Stars of Science, a pan-Arab reality television programme initiated by The Qatar Foundation dedicated to innovation with the aim of finding the next generation of young Arab innovators.
During a recent visit to Doha, EADS Chief Executive Officer Louis Gallois met with participants in Stars of Science and offered four long-term internship awards for a training programme within any EADS corporate Research & Technology laboratory. Since its creation in 2000, the EADS Group with its four divisions has already created over 15,000 new high-tech jobs and demonstrated a leading role in aerospace and defence innovation with over 9,000 patents.
Dr. Jean Botti, EADS' Chief Technical Officer, said: "We are proud to support this unique programme in the Arab world. Stars of Science supports innovation, an area which EADS prioritizes through its research and technology activities. Our support of this programme is a symbol of EADS´ commitment to Qatar and to find and source the best innovative minds from around the world."
Bertrand Deyzac, Managing Director of EADS Qatar, added: "The Stars of Science programme is a unique event that allows young people to demonstrate their talents. About Stars of Science:
Stars of Science is an original TV format, initiated by Qatar Foundation , which has been broadcast on over 17 TV channels throughout the Arab world. Currently in its third season, Stars of Science supports 16 young innovators who have an idea based on a novel scientific feature. Each project is developed for commercialization through several stages of the innovation cycle, which include proof of concept, engineering prototyping, design production and business feasibility.
The four finalists are ranked by a jury and viewers in a live show in which the winning products are revealed. The finalists receive a total cash prize of $600,000 to help them develop their product further.
