GE's Integrated technology offering selected for produced water re-injection in Iraqi oil field

GE Units Team up to Offer Pumps, Gas Engines and Related Equipment

An agreement with BP Iraq-N.V. for over $40 Million

Basra, Iraq; November 28, 2011: GE Oil & Gas is supplying an innovative, integrated package of pumps, gas engines and additional equipment to BP Iraq N.V. for Produced Water Re-Injection operations to increase production in the Rumaila oil field of southern Iraq.

To fulfill the customer's diverse technology requirements, GE Oil & Gas called upon other GE Energy resources including Waukesha gas engines and Bently Nevada's condition monitoring product line.

"The innovative engineering approach used for this project featured the integration and packaging of several GE products, namely pumps, gas engines, gas systems, valves and air coolers. GE is proud to be able to offer our customers such an integrated solution for Produced Water Re-Injection as part of Production Enhancement plans for the Rumaila Field" said Joseph Anis, President and CEO for GE Energy in the Middle East.

The scope of GE's contract, valued at over $40 million, included 10 high-pressure, axially split pumps for water injection driven by 10 gas engines, six booster pumps driven by electric motors, two gas system stations for feeding and conditioning, and auxiliaries including air coolers, control valves and air starting systems. The equipment will be shipped during the second half of 2012.

Other critical features of the GE agreement with BP Iraq-N.V. include: a single contact point for the entire bundle of equipment, one manufacturer for the entire package to reduce technology alignment issues, an optimized scope of work to reduce installation time, and an integrated approach that allows the customer to save money and time in the project management phase. This innovative technology solution brings another added benefit - it is designed to protect the country's precious water resource.

To date, about 50 productive oil and gas reservoirs have been identified across Iraq, with Rumaila being the most productive.
