Fluor wins RasGas maintenance services contract
JEDDAH: Fluor Corporation announced that Qatar National Facilities Services (QNFS), a Qatari-based company partly owned by Fluor, signed a five-year comprehensive maintenance services contract with RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) in the industrial city of Ras Laffan, Qatar.Following a competitive tendering process, the new contract was awarded to provide maintenance services for the entire complex.
Fluor booked the undisclosed contract value into backlog in the third quarter of 2011.
"We are committed to introducing global best practices that will support RasGas' vision to be a world-class global energy supplier that continually strives for excellence."
For that project, Fluor trained more than 62,000 different workers at the site from 40 different countries with peak construction manpower reaching nearly 9,000 workers in January 2008.
RasGas is owned by Qatar Petroleum and an affiliate of ExxonMobil and produces approximately 37 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) annually for export to global markets.
The company is one of the most successful global energy suppliers in the world.
RasGas oversees and manages all the operations associated with seven LNG trains, two sales gas production facilities, helium production facilities, offshore production platforms, as well as major shipping contracts and global commercial partnerships.
Qatar National Facility Services (QNFS), a Qatari company, is jointly owned by Fluor and TRAGS and is based in Doha.
QNFS was established to provide the Qatari market with a local asset management solution underpinned by international best practices. QNFS is committed to providing the services our clients need to maintain the critical infrastructure necessary to support Qatar's long-term growth plans.
