Dnata invests in ground support equipment at Geneva airport

By Staff Report GENEVA/DUBAI - Dnata has recently added four brand new de-icing vehicles to its fleet of ground support equipment at Geneva airport. The €3.2 million investment will help the dnata team provide even more efficient service for its airline customers, giving them increased peace of mind as the winter season approaches.

The state-of-the-art Elephant Beta de-icing trucks from Vestergaard now form part of the fleet of vehicles available to assist the Swiss team in protecting the on-time performance of all airlines - whether scheduled, cargo or ski charter operators - over the coming cold-weather months.

The vehicles, two of which are equipped with an ecological forced air option have a tank with an 8,000 litre fluid capacity and a FE260 chassis. This forced air solution allows ground support teams to blow dry snow off an aircraft, rather than using the standard water/glycol fluid mix. This minimises the risk of contaminants entering the environment and can also result in potential cost savings for customers.

Staff have been fully trained on the operation of these vehicles as part of their preparation for any severe weather challenges presented by the forthcoming season.

Dnata 's business in Switzerland provides passenger, baggage, ramp and cargo handling services at both Zurich and Geneva to over 60 airlines from around the world. The local team continues to win new business regularly and is committed to maintaining the integrity of airline schedules, with over 26,000 aircraft turnarounds handled by dnata Switzerland last year.

In addition to holding ISO 9001:2008, dnata became the first ground handling operation in Switzerland to achieve IATA's ISAGO accreditation for its entire operation, setting a national industry benchmark.
