Omantel secures top ranking in brands survey

MUSCAT -- Oman Telecommunications Company ( Omantel ) has ranked first and second place in Oman Daily Observer's first-of-its-kind Brand Survey conducted on public opinion.

The publication 'Oman's 180 Greatest Brands' further solidifies Omantel 's credentials as the leading brand in the telecom industry in the number one spot, and second place amongst all other competing brands from a multitude of business sectors.

Omantel competed against 180 national and international brands under 30 product categories. The survey conducted by Oman Daily Observer, aimed to achieve an accurate assessment of the Sultanate's top 180 brands. The study traces the accomplishments of leading brands and comprehensively investigates their development over the years.

Omantel has scored a spectacular double in the 2011 Observer Brand survey, winning the No 1 brand slot in the telecom network category and the No 2 position among the overall 180 Greatest Brands in Oman. However, considering the fact that Omantel provides its mobile services through its subsidiary Oman Mobile, the combined score of the Omantel group in terms of the percentage share across 180 brands make it the No 1 brand with 1.499 per cent of the total votes as against 1.4 per cent for Dahabi. Oman's 180 Greatest Brands covers core issues in brand management designed to appeal to key disciplines in the world of business including strategic planning and management, market research and investment. It provides insights on brands operating in the Sultanate with focus on assimilation of modern technology and emerging international brand management trends.
