Dubai in Guinness book for highest restaurant
By Farhana Chowdhury DUBAI -- UAE is no stranger when it comes to being the biggest, the largest and the tallest, and this year, the city of Dubai has nabbed five spots in the Guinness World Records, including a newlyintroduced category for the 'Highest Restaurant from Ground Level'."The UAE in general holds about 83 records, and right now, we have Burj Khalifa that holds the record for the 'Tallest Building', and the 'Tallest Man-Made Structure Ever'. In addition to it, there is now At.mosphere lounge and grill that holds our first-ever category for 'Highest Restaurant from Ground Level'. It is the first time someone has taken the record for this category," said Talal Omar, Adjudication Manager of Guinness World Records, who presented certificates to Issam Galadari, CEO of Emaar Properties , Dubai and Low Ping, Group CEO of Emaar , on Tuesday at an event held in Burj Khalifa to acknowledge the entries.
The swanky restaurant stands at a height of 442 metres (1,350 feet) on the 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa and hosts a total seating capacity of 210 people.
Dubai also holds the Guinness World Record for the 'Single Largest Acrylic Viewing Panel' for Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall, while mall itself received the title for the 'Largest Shopping Centre' in the world.
