Oman Flour launches industrial bakery
By Hasan Kamoonpuri MUSCAT -- Oman Flour Mills Co SAOG, which aspires to be a complete food player, is setting up a state of the art industrial bakery, namely Atyab Bakery LLC with a production area of 30,000 sq meters. Atyab Bakery, to be operational by the end of this year, will produce international quality bakery products and will cater to the needs of Oman, the UAE and other export markets.Boasting complete automation of bakery processes, Atyab Bakery will help the company capture maximum value in the business value chain. The company is also poised for exciting growth opportunities in the processed chicken and egg business. This will go a long way in making Oman Flour Mills a diversified and complete player in the food industry.
In its bid to be a complete food player, Oman Flour Mills also entered into the poultry business, consolidating its stake in Modern Poultry Farms SAOC, a producer of 100 million eggs annually and acquired shares in Sohar Poultry Company SAOG which caters to the processed chicken industry. In recent times, Oman Flour Mills has set up a corporate level managing company namely "Atyab Investments" to focus on business growth and performance improvements.
Oman Flour Mills Co. SAOG, set up in 1977 with a milling capacity of 150 metric tonnes (MT) per day of wheat flour, is today one of the leading mills in the region with flour capacity of 800 tonnes per day and over 1000 tonnes of animal feed. The company has focused heavily on developing Omani nationals in the industry, resulting in overall development of the personnel and a healthy Omanisation of 75 per cent. These trained employees are successfully running the state of the art technology plant and this ensures only high quality products are presented to the customers.
Oman Flour Mills has been involved in meeting the demands of the country for the last 35 years. The brand "Dahabi" and the company have grown leaps and bounds during this period and enjoy a strong presence in the country.
With a sales turnover of more than RO 48 million, Oman Flour Mills is the market leader with more than 65 per cent of the market share in the country. The company has two major brands "Dahabi" for flour products, and "Barakat" for feed products. These products are popular not only in the domestic market but also in neighbouring countries. The company exports its products to more than 10 countries all over the region.
Oman Flour Mills has developed more than 20 varieties of flours for making bread, pizza, Arabic bread and a host of varied products.
