DOHA: Al Jaber & Partners (AJP) is nearing its completion on the QR1.8bn Lusail City Development Project.
AJP, which is part of Al Jaber Group of Companies (AJC) based in Abu Dhabi and one of Qatar's leading infrastructure and energy contractors, has worked on Lusail's Primary Infrastructure Works Construction Package 2 (CP2).
Commissioned by Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company , the Lusail project started in May 2008 and is on schedule to complete after taking 43 months.
He said the efficient project management and planning systems achieved the highest quality standards attributed to special failsafe processes such as BIRFT - Build It Right First Time - and our IMS - Integrated Management Systems.
Lusail City is the realisation of Qatar's vision for the future, establishing a distinctive 21st century iconic city that celebrates the country's cultural and geographical heritage. As a measure of its size, Lusail aims to attract 80,000 visitors, 200,000 residents and 170,000 workers.
With 37 sq km of waterfront land that is master-planned into 19 integrated and diverse mixed-use districts, Lusail will provide comprehensive and diverse community facilities from shopping malls to schools and hospitals, as well as cultural and sports amenities.
Lusail is designed as an ultra-modern yet traditional future city that is environmentally sustainable.
The infrastructure works brief include roads and infrastructure in an area totalling some 180 hectares at the centre of the Lusail Development Project, known as Foxhill North and Foxhill South.
The scope of work consists of six types of roads in a 24km road network; 32km each of drinking water and firefighting networks; 23km of wastewater and 52kkm of stormwater networks; plus an 11km irrigation network.
In addition, the mechanical and electrical utilities comprise street lighting, traffic signals, telecommunications, ELV installations and 66/11kV substation works. A sewage pumping station completes the scale of the project, where the effluent is heavily controlled.
