Al Jaber & Partners lay the foundations of Lusail in QR1.8bn City Development Project
Mammoth infrastructure & utilities works include roads, drinking water and fire fighting networks, wastewater, stormwater management and irrigation networks, electrical substations, street lighting, traffic signals and telecommunication works, plus a sewer pumping stationDoha, 20 August 2011: Al Jaber & Partners (AJP), part of the Al Jaber Group of Companies (AJC) based in Abu Dhabi and one of Qatar's leading infrastructure and energy contractors, is celebrating the near completion of its massive Lusail City Development Project - Primary Infrastructure Works Construction Package 2 (CP2). Commissioned by Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company , the QR1.8bn Project started in May 2008 and is on schedule to take 43 months to complete.
Awarded one of the highest safety certificates by Lusail for completing over 9,000,000 without accident or incident, Al Jaber & Partners' safety record remains untarnished in the region.

Lusail City is the realization of Qatar's vision for the future, establishing a distinctive 21st century iconic city that celebrates the country's cultural and geographical heritage. As a measure of its size, Lusail aims to attract 80,000 visitors, 200,000 residents and 170,000 workers. With 37 sq km of waterfront land that is master -planned into 19 integrated and diverse mixed-use districts, Lusail will provide comprehensive and diverse community facilities from shopping malls to schools and hospitals, as well as cultural and sports amenities. Lusail is designed as an ultra-modern yet traditional future city that is environmentally sustainable.
The infrastructure works brief include roads and infrastructure in an area totalling some 180 hectares at the centre of the Lusail Development Project, known as Foxhill North and Foxhill South. The scope of work consists of six types of roads in a 24Km road network; 32Km each of drinking water and firefighting networks; 23Km of wastewater and 52Km of stormwater networks; plus an 11Km irrigation network. In addition, the mechanical & electrical utilities comprise street lighting, traffic signals, telecommunications, ELV installations and 66/11kV substation works. A sewage pumping station completes the scale of the project, where the effluent is heavily controlled.
