Omantel's 'give, share and care' campaign
MUSCAT: Oman Telecommunications Company ( Omantel ), the Sultanate's biggest telecommunications company, yesterday announced its Ramadan campaign as part of its corporate social responsibility towards the Omani society.Addressing a Press conference, Dr Amer Awadh Al Rawas, chief executive officer of Omantel , said this year's campaign would involve three main activities - giving, sharing and caring.
The first activity, giving, would include distribution of food boxes to needy families across the country. Around 1,850 families will be covered in this drive. This is being organised under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Development and with support from Dar Al Atta.
"We are extending the areas for distributing food boxes this time. We will also include the areas which were not included earlier," Al Rawas said. The second activity, sharing, would include collection of donations from the company and
its employees.
The collected amount would be distributed to the needy people in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development. Around 2,000 families would be covered under this campaign.
The third programme, caring, would focus on Eid dress distribution to the less fortunate sections of people, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and Dar Al Atta. "We will be introducing Omani products this time, which will help to create local employment too," noted Al Rawas.
The campaign, which would start with the distribution of food boxes to 200 families, is expected to last for more than three weeks, until the mid of Ramadan.
The Ramadan Charity Campaign is being conducted for the third consecutive year time this time. The first was organised with BankMuscat in 2009, with the theme, 'Together for a Happier Eid.'
