Omantel appoints new VP of Consumer Operations
MUSCAT -- Omantel , the pioneer in providing integrated telecom services in Oman, has made a key appointment to its senior management team with the announcement that Haitham Abdullah al Kharusi (pictured) has been appointed to the role of Vice-President of the Consumer Business Unit, heading a team responsible for a key area of the company's business.Al Kharusi brings over 15 years of wide ranging senior management experience in the Telecom and Oil & Gas sectors to the role having spent a considerable amount of his career working for a leading regional integrated telecom services operator.
Haitham joins Omantel from a position as Group Vice- President of Brand Management at Etisalat -- the incumbent operator in United Arab Emirates with operations in different countries across Asia and Africa.
In his new role at Omantel as Vice-President for the Consumer Business Unit, Haitham will be responsible for the development of new services and products for individual customers, direct and indirect retail sales and the after-sales customer service for more than 2.4 million customers in the Sultanate.
Announcing the appointment, Omantel CEO Dr Amer al Rawas said: "Haitham will be an invaluable member of our senior team -- bringing his experience in the wider business and in telecom operations in particular, making him the ideal person to head our growing and developing consumer business unit."
Commenting on his new role, Haitham said: "Having worked overseas for a multinational operator for many years, I am pleased to return to Oman in such a vital role for the pioneer in delivering modern telecommunications services in the Sultanate. Omantel has a lot to offer our customers across the country and my main focus in this new and challenging role will be to continue to enhance our customer experience."
