MetLife Alico provides free summer health check for families in advance of the holiday travel season and Holy Month of Ramadan
20 hospitals/clinics across the Gulf host 'Wellness Day' by MetLife Alico - free 5-minute health check for medical cardholders19 July 2011 (Dubai, UAE): MetLife Alico, in conjunction with renowned medical providers in the Gulf, is continuing its free Wellness Day campaign across 20 hospitals and clinics in the UAE (14 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai) and GCC countries, for families who are medical cardholders. The free 5-minute health checks are an opportunity to create peace of mind for the whole family in advance of summer travel and Ramadan, which coincides with the holiday season this year.
The Wellness Day health checks are provided free of charge to any MetLife Alico cardholder and family members covered through their employers, on a walk-in basis with no appointment required, at any of the participating hospitals and community clinics, from 10am till 3pm, on Saturday July 23rd .
This is the third Wellness Day organised by the company as part of its campaign to highlight the vital importance of health screening, following the pilot event held in January 2011 in Dubai, in which 40% of the participating visitors were found to have an irregular health indicator that needed addressing. The 5-minute checks include blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI), with a report issued immediately after the checks.
"We were very concerned at the high level of irregular health indicators we saw at the pilot event," says Dr Shafiq, Medical Network Director at MetLife Alico. "Routine health screening makes sense to the whole community - and the whole family - and especially with the high incidence of some serious conditions, such as diabetes, in the region. Ignoring the health risks of poor lifestyle choices is not an option and it is the whole family that suffers as a result of ill health amongst any of the members. Regular health checks are essential to protect your family's health and wellbeing, especially at a time of year which makes specific demands - through the summer season when ill health while travelling can be complicated - and for a safe and healthy Ramadan for those families fasting through the Holy Month."
Dr. Pietie Loubser, Chief Clinical Officer at EHL Management Services, adds: Through offering these simple but important health checks together with MetLife Alico, our aim is to steer the community towards regular health screening and encouraging every family to choose a healthier lifestyle."
