Gulf logistics industry grows 10%
MUSCAT: The Gulf region's favourable geographic location has provided a strong opportunity to establish leading transport and logistics hubs with the sector currently growing at a staggering 10 per cent per annum. However, according to Saleh Saeed Lootah, chairman of the Dubai-based Centre Point Logistics (CPL), a leading asset based service provider to the logistics sector, Third party logistics providers (3PLs) operating in the Gulf Cooperation Council have contributed substantially to establish its competitive position as a reliable logistics hub serving global trade lanes.
"There are significant opportunities for 3PLs to improve on the industry's on-time delivery rates, meet the requirement of customers competitively and expand their businesses globally," said Lootah.
CPL has inked an agreement this month to support Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, one of the leading global logistics providers. The agreement strengthens CPL position as a partner of choice for well established and respected global logistics players.
Supply chain
"Hellmann offers many specialist industry solutions and has proven to deliver a competitive advantage with focused, field-tested and reliable business practices," said Saleh Lootah. "Our support to Hellmann in the region is a model to improve supply chain reliability, speed, cost-effectiveness and customer satisfaction," he added.
The agreement will enable Hellmann to utilise CPL's two-million square feet logistics hub located in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), which offers integrated services to saves resources, time and money while adding value to partners and clients through enhanced efficiency and competitiveness.
"Over the years, we have forged strong relationships with leading asset based local service providers who can compliment our strategy in contract logistics solutions," said Madhav Kurup, Hellmann's chief executive in the Middle East.
"We are glad to work with CPL to further enhance our capabilities in the UAE and continue to deliver unique quality and customised solutions in the industry," he added.
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has a network of 16,500 employees in 443 branches across 157 countries. With its strong supply chain focus and specialist automotive, fashion, oil, gas, pharmaceuticals, chemical and marine solutions, Hellmann's operations in the Gulf region has been a great success in providing safe and efficient distribution of a broad variety of goods which includes raw materials, finished and consumer goods, machinery, documents and foodstuffs.
