EIB: Agreement to finance extension plan of Mdhila industrial complex
TUNIS (TAP) - Tunisia and the European Investment Bank ( EIB ) signed on Tuesday in Brussels a draft agreement to finance the building works of an industrial complex meant to increase the production of the existing Triple Super Phosphate "TSP" plant in Mdhila (Governorate of Gafsa) This plant to be built next to the phosphates mines, will meet the best environment standards. Its cost is estimated at 500 MDT.The EIB will contribute to the amount of 275 MDT, granted over 15 years at a fixed rate of 3.5% with a three-year grace period.
Planning and International Co-operation Minister Abdelhamid Triki said, at a news conference held after the signing ceremony, that this new commitment of the EIB met two priorities, namely the creation of jobs in an underprivileged area (over 1000 jobs) and the promotion of the phosphate industry that accounts for over 2.6% of the GDP and generates big export revenues for Tunisia.
