Dubai Police and Michelin Collaborate to Promote Summer Tyre Safety
* Fill Up With Air summer campaign tie up announced at official ceremony* Dubai Police and Michelin to educate motorists on risks associated with worn tyres or incorrect tyre pressure
Speaking at the launch ceremony held at the Dubai Police headquarters in Al Qusais on Thursday 7th July, Lieutenant Saif Muhair Saeed Al Mazroui, Deputy Head of the Dubai Police Traffic Department said: "Many people are unaware of the importance of tyre maintenance and how worn or incorrectly inflated tyres can jeopardise their safety and that of their families. This knowledge gap is what we aim to tackle in our annual summer campaign and it gives me great pleasure to announce our new collaboration with Michelin. To date, we have issued over 7,000 fines for damaged tyres and together with Michelin, we aim to educate motorists and bring this number down. I would also like to thank the Ministry of Interior and Dubai Traffic Department for their continuous support and efforts in our campaign."
At the event, Hany Abdul Samad, Marketing Manager for Michelin Middle East, stressed the significance of the 'Fill Up With Air' Safety campaign and why tyre safety, is so important: "Ensuring that your tyres are properly maintained and inflated is critical to ensure motorist safety. If you do not treat them with the utmost care and attention they deserve, you compromise your safety. Every tyre needs the right amount of pressure. Too little press pressure can cause premature wear, damage, or even risk of failure. Too much pressure shortens your tires lifespan and reduces traction. So make sure you check them when cold every month, and don't forget the spare! "
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dubai Police for supporting us in promoting better and safer mobility in the region," Abdul Samad added.
