Omifco provides grant to students
Muscat: The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) and Oman India Fertiliser Company signed an agreement on GUtech's Airport campus.The agreement aims to provide five scholarships in the field of engineering for Omanis belonging to the Sur region from the next academic year, 2011-2012. The donor will bear the tuition fees of beneficiaries for a period of five years in disciplines related to process engineering and mechanical engineering.
Registration will be available for the grant through the Higher Education Admission Centre. However, this is the first time that Oman India Fertiliser Company would be providing these grants through an official agreement between the company and the university.
GUtech provides high quality educational opportunities in accordance with approved undergraduate programmes in these disciplines through an appropriate academic and learning environment.
The agreement was signed by Professor Burkhard Rauhut, the Rector of the German University of Technology in Oman and Sultan Al Maamari, the external affairs manager of Oman India Fertiliser
Company.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Hussain Al Salmi, deputy rector for administration and finances, GUtech, Prof Dr. Barbara Stauble, deputy rector for academic affairs, GUtech, Abdullah Al Ghailani, human resources manager, Omifco . Other senior officials of the two organisations were also present.
