Taxi booking service in Sharjah to be available 24/7 soon
By Ahmed Shaaban SHARJAH -- The advance cab booking will soon be available round the clock instead of 16 hours a day in Sharjah, as per a plan under study by the emirate's transport corporation.The service, being provided by 10 male and female employees on two eight-hour shifts, is now available from 7am to 11pm. The staff strength will be increased to 20 to man the call centre 24/7, according to Mohammed Alburaimi, Internal Vehicle Devices (IVD) project manager, Sharjah Transport. The service launched on January 15 this year has seen a huge demand. The call centre, which is reachable at 600545455, has processed 3,552 cab bookings from January 15 to March 31. The automatic booking service -- worth Dh30 million -- is part of the Sharjah Transport's efforts to evolve its systems and provide a more convenient and attractive service to the public.
