Saudi Hollandi Bank partners with the International Finance Corporation to support small to medium businesses in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Hollandi , the Kingdom's first established bank, has entered into an agreement with the IFC ( International Finance Corporation ), a member of the World Bank, to provide a wide range of services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia.
The IFC will provide Saudi Hollandi with finance advisory services for small and medium enterprises. Saudi Hollandi will work with the IFC to study and quantify the Kingdom's SME business segment and introduce credit policies, processes, products and services that will simplify the banking experience for small to medium businesses. As part of this strategy Saudi Hollandi executives will meet with existing SME customers to discuss their needs.
The agreement between the two financial organizations was signed by Saudi Hollandi Bank 's Chairman Engr. Mubarak bin Abdullah Khafrah and Walid bin Abdul Rahman Al-Murshed, Principal, Middle East, North Africa, South Europe and IFC 's Head for Saudi Arabia at a ceremony attended by Saudi Hollandi's managing director Dr. Bernd van Linder and senior executives from both parties at Saudi Hollandi's head office in Riyadh.
" SHB has already made good progress in developing its small business banking operations and IFC welcomes the opportunity to work together to build an even stronger pipeline for the future," said Kaiser Naseem, Head of IFC 's Bank Advisory Services in the Middle East and North Africa. "Building a diverse economy by supporting entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East is important for the region's long term sustainability and a key part of IFC 's long term plans for MENA."
Business banking for small to medium enterprises is a key element of Saudi Hollandi's growth strategy. The bank, the oldest in Saudi Arabia, believes that the segment is still underserved by the country's financial sector.
"There's no doubt that the future of business banking is with small to medium businesses," explains Dr Bernd van Linder,
Saudi Hollandi Bank
's Managing Director. "There's no organization with more expertise and understanding of this segment than the
IFC
. We will work with them to better understand small to medium businesses, to revolutionize banking for small to medium business owners. We at the bank are very excited by this challenge and we believe that we can make a real difference to the growth and success of thousands of Saudi-owned and based small to medium firms across the Kingdom."
