Region's biggest ICT conference and exhibition opens tomorrow
15,000 visitors expected to QITCOM 2011The three day event, organized by IFP Qatar in partnership with the Supreme Council of Information Technology ( ictQATAR ) will be the first opportunity for international and regional ICT companies and organizations to see what investment opportunities, partnership, research and development prospects Qatar has to offer.
Taking place at Doha Exhibition Center May 24 to 26, 2011, QITCOM 2011 will have the theme of Innovate, Connect and Transform. The Exhibition, which is being held between 9am-9pm will be open for all and will showcase Qatar's growing stature in the ICT industry and underscore the myriad of new opportunities in the country over the next decade. Held concurrently is the QITCOM 2011 Conference where keynote speakers will be opening the show. Speaking at the opening will be ictQATAR Secretary General Dr Hessa Al Jaber and the world renowned writer and ICT innovator Mr. Guy Kawasaki.
The first day of QITCOM 2011 will also see the opening of the Innovation Theater. Here young ICT entrepreneurs and innovators can bring and present their ideas to the forum and seek advice and support from experts and leaders in the industry. The winner will be inducted into the ictQatar Incubation Programme and secure 180,000. QR in services over 1 year to help develop their startup idea.
Other speakers for the remaining two days of the conference include Director General of the Telecom Regulatory Authority, UAE Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghanem, Chairman of the United States Access Board's Planning Committee, Mr. Phil Jenkins, Former Head of Usability and Accessibility at BBC Future Media Mr. Jonathan Hassell, and Regional Manager Gulf at Google Mr. Mohamad Mourad.
"We have developed a diverse program of speakers, panels and other events for QITCOM 2011 that will be relevant to entrepreneurs, IT professionals, policy makers, investors and business leaders. We anticipate a dynamic three days of networking, sharing of information and even innovation that will lead to lasting partnerships, new business opportunities and have a real and lasting impact on the region's industry," said Mr. Marwan Mahmoud, Executive Director of ICT Industry Development at ictQATAR .
QITCOM 2011 is also set to be one of the biggest ICT exhibitions in the MENA region with some of the biggest names in the industry showing new technology and latest products. Exhibitors include Huawei, MADA, Microsoft, Qatar Foundation, SAP, DELL, Wipro, and Juniper.
