Middle East still attractive for international asset management industry
Top international asset managers collaborate on definitive industry studyMEIP is a follow-up to Insight Discovery's popular, 2010, Gulf Professional Adviser Survey (GPAS), but unlike the GPAS study, MEIP will be extended from a Gulf sample to the wider MENA and Levant region. The study will survey CEOs, CFOs, CIOs, analysts and financial advisers from retail banks, private banks, independent firms, investment companies, family offices and institutions such as pension funds. The survey is expected to reveal:
- Crystallised opinions on opportunities and challenges facing the professional adviser community in the Middle East
- The relevance of fund ratings in the local markets and a ranking of the key agencies
- A twelve-month outlook on the most attractive investments strategies, asset classes and geographies for managers in the region, including the predicted demand for Shariah compliant products
- What the adviser intermediary market looks for in an asset manager
The report also aims to rate asset management and international life companies on various criteria such as performance, brand penetration, reputation and sales support. Although Platinum partners have been secured by Insight Discovery, they will not be announced until the study's findings are published, to encourage truly frank and honest data. The study is still in the process of appointing Silver sponsorship partners.
Nigel Sillitoe, CEO of Insight Discovery comments: "It's apparent that there is a dearth of quality research available on professional advisers in the Middle East. The international asset management community is still very interested in this region, but many are clearly seeking more information on the mindset and direction of the industry's professional advisers.
"The MEIP study will fill a hole in becoming the definitive annual, industry monitor for both local and international asset managers, international life companies and fund administrators doing business in the Middle East."
