H.E. Humaid Mohamed Obaid Al Qutami Opens The Office Exhibition 2011
Premier show for office fit-out solutions signals renewed confidence in the region's commercial real estate sector
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, The Office Exhibition has developed into the Middle East's preeminent destination for architects and designers specialising in workplace interior environments - a position reinforced by the show's visitor pre-registration figures. More than 5,400 trade and business delegates registered to attend the 2011 show.
"We thank H.E. Humaid Mohamed Obaid Al Qutami for his support of The Office Exhibition 2011, the most influential trade show in the Middle East for the office-fit out industry," said David Wilson, Event Director of The Office Exhibition. "The phenomenal international response we have received from exhibitors reinforces the confidence they have in the region's commercial real estate sector which, despite setbacks, continues to show resilience particularly in the Gulf countries."
"We have our largest contingent of companies from North America with 30 brands represented at our U.S. Campus including industry heavyweights Bernhardt Design and K.I. We are also very pleased to welcome a number of first-time exhibitors as well as new country pavilions from Canada, China, Scandinavia and Malaysia. The three-day event is action-packed with exciting award ceremonies, industry debate and discussion as well as hundreds of new product launches," added Wilson.
A ceremony for The Office Awards was held in the morning to recognise the best exhibitor products in eight categories. The Total Office UAE on behalf of Orangebox won the Best of Category award for its CWTCH range of group seating while Portugal design house Guialmi scooped three Honourable Mentions in the categories of Stacking/Training, Benches and Tables/Desks.
Highlighting the significant transformation of the UAE commercial office environment was the Decade of Design Gallery, a visual showcase of the best workplaces in the UAE over the last 10 years as voted by IIDA. The winning category entries displayed at the event included AK Design for its Al Mojil Investment project; HBA International for the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort; and Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP for the Public Areas at Residences of Burj Khalifa. According to IIDA, the design firms honoured for their projects evoke a sense of the future while incorporating beautifully restrained, yet worldly and luxurious palates.
Commenting on the importance of The Office Exhibition, Bernd Albinger, Export Sales Manager of German design company Interstuhl said: "The Office Exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for us to showcase an extensive range of our products and innovations to both our existing customers and to the many new clients we hope to meet. The Middle East is home to some of the highest-value infrastructure and commercial construction projects so it is certainly a priority market for us in terms of growth prospects."
The Office Exhibition runs from 17-19 May, 10am to 6pm each day, in Sheikh Saeed Halls 1-3 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Registration is free for business and trade professionals.
