Building a world class trade fair industry in Oman
Muscat: Professionals from Oman's trade fair industry consisting of UFI members gathered yesterday (Tuesday, May 10, 2011) at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to attend a seminar and to share information and ideas on the strategies to build a world class trade fair industry in the Sultanate.Organised by Oman International Trade & Exhibitions (OITE) and the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, Union Foires International (UFI) under the auspices of His Excellency Mohsin Khamis Al Balushi, Advisor at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, a seminar titled 'Building a World Class Trade Fair Industry in Oman' was held to offer industry professionals updated concepts and effective tips covering a wide range of options.
Speakers at the seminars imparted practical tips to be undertaken to build a world class trade fairs industry in the Sultanate. His Excellency Mohsin Khamis Al Balushi expressed aspirations and the need to build a world class trade fair industry in the country. Ibrahim Al Khaldi, the regional manager of UFI highlighted how the UFI mandate and being a member can elevate Oman's trade fair industry to world class level. Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director - B2B Events & Marketing at OITE shared on the company's experience as a first UFI member and how this can benefit in organising world class trade fairs like COMEX and GHEDEX.
He added, "Today, there are three trade fairs companies and one centre being members of UFI in Oman, which is a remarkable progress for the country's trade fair industry. It is not an impossible task for the Sultanate to build a world class trade fair industry, which plays a significant role in highlighting the development taking place in various sectors. The support and guidance of UFI will continue to encourage the trade fair industry in Oman to broaden its scopes."
