DOHA: For the first time in Qatar, the Pumps & Pipes, an innovative and now an international conference, will be held here, the Qatar Science & Technology Park ( QSTP ) and ExxonMobil have jointly announced.Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Robotic Surgery Centre and the Methodist Debakey Heart & Vascular Center are all valuable contributors to the event and will provide world-class speakers.
Dr Tidu Maini - Executive Chairman of QSTP and Science and Technology Advisor, said QSTP is delighted to lead this initiative and to bring Pumps & Pipes to Qatar as this is the first time it is being held in the Middle East.
Alex Dodds, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Qatar Inc, said ExxonMobil supports QSTP 's efforts in advancing science and technology and hopes to see many collaborations result from this conference that will have broad applications in the energy sector and the medical industry.
Now in its fifth year, the Pumps & Pipes conference is being held internationally for the first time as it moves to Doha, Qatar now known for its emphasis on advancements in science and technology, particularly in the fields of energy and medicine.
Under the imaginative theme "Pumps & Pipes," the conference was conceived as a collaborative initiative that brings together members of the energy and medical industries in a unique setting to explore ideas and technologies common to these two fields.
Many of the most significant innovations in scientific research happen in interdisciplinary areas where different types of expertise are combined, and Pumps & Pipes leverages this concept. Pumps & Pipes is expected to lead to the formulation of new ideas and the sharing of new technologies between industries that face similar challenges, even if it is on different scales.
The conference will explore the common attributes of oil and gas technology, computational sciences, cardiovascular medicine and surgery. Pumps & Pipes will invite people from across many disciplines including surgeons, researchers, engineers, geoscientists, imaging specialists, robotics experts, energy and medical equipment suppliers and service company representatives.
With attendees spanning several specialties, the conference will foster interactions that can address challenges in areas such as imaging, fluid dynamics, robotics and remote monitoring.
