FRANCHISE UAE 2011, three-day exhibition for entrepreneurs interested in franchising, opens at Business Village
Franchising industry in UAE remains largely untapped because of peculiar Asian mindset, says chief of Dubai SME
Dubai, April 14, 2011: The franchising industry in the UAE is largely untapped because of the Asian mindset of reluctance to sharing of business expertise and practices, according to Abdulbasit Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME.
Inaugurating the Franchise UAE 2011, the largest national franchise and trade show, Al Janahi said Dubai's new strategy is to give an impetus to local SMEs and thus promote home-grown brands, as well as bring other brands from the region and the Indian Subcontinent to the UAE.
Mana Al Suwaidi, Commercial Attaché at UAE Embassy, New Delhi, said the Ministry of Foreign Trade was working aggressively to bring Indian entrepreneurs and brands to the UAE, as India is witnessing robust growth and a number of Indian brands are ready to enter new markets, especially the Middle East.
Also present at the event was Mohammed Bushanain, Executive Director, Corporate Quality and Management Excellence, Department of Economic Development, Dubai.
The three-day event consists of a comprehensive business meet and the Entrepreneurship Summit 2011.
The Entrepreneurship Summit 2011 on Saturday, April 16, will focus on creating regional networking, bringing together over 200 delegates and more than 20 top industry experts sharing their success stories, including Rama Chakaki (Baraka Ventures), Sunil Bahri (Dubai Quality Group), Kamal Puri (Skyline University), Dr. Manoj Nakra (Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment), Mamur Mustapha (Firefly Konsulting FZE), Shobha Menon (Equity ME) and Joycia Young (Clyde & Co LLP).
Franchise UAE 2011 is organized by Franchise Middle East and supported by Dubai SME, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Indian Franchise Association (IFA) and Commercial Office of UAE Embassy, New Delhi.
The booming Middle East franchising market, currently valued at US$ 30 billion, is growing at 27% annually, and the region presents unparalleled opportunities for growth because of the presence of a large number of high networth individuals and multi-ethnic populations with high disposable incomes.
Franchise UAE 2011 is a platform for new entrepreneurs, budding enterprises and established SMEs eyeing new areas for business expansion in Middle East.
The Middle East region has a scaling multi-ethnic population with high disposable income. More importantly, it has over 400,000 HNIs (almost 13% of total population) with large wealth holdings, each with liquid assets of more than $5 million. It means together they have investable funds of more than US$2 trillion available for new businesses.
