Meetings of Arab Health Ministers Council open in Beirut
Beirut, March 10 (Petra) - Health Minister Yassin Husban said that Jordan occupies a leading position in terms of medical services as it ranked first by the World Bank to be the number one health-care services provider in the region and among the top five in the world for the third year in a raw.In remarks at the 35th session of the Arab Health Ministers Council which opened in Beirut today, the minister said that Jordan witnessed in the past two decades a comprehensive development in the sectors of health, education, information technology, investment and economy.
"We had to maintain this level of development, boost medical tourism and follow-up on Arab patients before, during and after their treatment in Jordan" he added.
He noted that the Medical Tourism Directorate has been assigned by the Health Ministry to stimulate medical tourism, promote Jordan as an advanced medical center to attract Arab and foreign patients and maintain and enhance Jordan's leading position in medical fields.
During the opening session, Quality Director at the Ministry of Health Safa el Qusous was awarded the Quality Expert Award of 2011 for her contributions to establishing the Arab Accreditation Program and providing consultancy to a number of Arab countries in the field of quality and patient safety as well as initiatives to improve the quality and safety of national, Arab and regional health care.
