Dubai Health Authority signs an agreement with SMC Index
United Arab Emirates, Dubai, March 7, 2011: The Dubai Health Authority signed a service level agreement with Samsung Medical Centre ( SMC) Index recently at the DHA headquarters
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Khalid Al Sheikh Mubarak, Deputy Director General of the DHA and Eng. Aiman Al Madani, Vice President of Finance and Investment at INDEX Holding.
In Dubai, Samsung Medical Centre functions in collaboration with INDEX Holding and thus the entity is known as SMC-INDEX.
His Excellency Khalid Al Sheikh Mubarak, Deputy Director General of DHA said that the DHA is keen to boost cooperation with the private sector through such agreements which enables service sharing between the two sectors. "This agreement will help in proper utilization of financial resources and supports the private health sector in the Emirate which is an important role that the DHA plays."
With the signing of this agreement, SMC-INDEX will be able to utilize the support services and facilities provided by the DHA including hospitals, operation theaters, laboratory analysis, X-Rays and other facilities to further enhance its services.
The agreement is an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) that was signed between the two parties in 2010, which highlighted the importance of cooperation in various health related fields. The DHA has always been a strong supporter and guide for all medical investments in Dubai, and this agreement further establishes DHA 's position in this regard.
The agreement with SMC-INDEX provides the Emirate specialized health treatments.
SMC-INDEX medical centre is part of the Samsung Medical Centers (SMC) group and is the first centre which is outside of South Korea. The SMC brand owns the largest medical centers and hospitals in South Korea. The SMC centre in South Korea is also the largest in the Asian continent and comprises of approximately 10,000 staff and 4,000 hospital beds, of which 700 beds are dedicated to treat cancer cases under the SMC Comprehensive Cancer Centers.
