Windows Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate now available for Download
Internet Explorer 9 enables Developers to Build the Next Generation of Web Experiences
Amman, February 14, 2011- After months of beta testing and over 25 million downloads, Microsoft Corp has announced that Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate is now available for download providing developers with the opportunity to start creating a more beautiful web for internet users around the globe.
Internet Explorer 9 RC delivers improved performance driven by hardware acceleration, a deep commitment to HTML5, a minimal user interface, and a built-in privacy and security feature which gives users better control over how their information is shared across sites.
Muhammad Arrabi, Developer Platform Evangelist Microsoft Jordan, stated, "The launch of Internet Explorer 9 RC is a major milestone that will enable developers to build a richer, more immersive web and superior browsing experience. This will be achieved by using the full power of the PC to create the next generation of Web experiences, built on a comprehensive range of modern web standards including HTML 5."
One of the key new features of the Release Candidate is Tracking Protection, which uses a robust set of built-in security and privacy controls to better protect customers online. Tracking protection in Internet Explorer 9 allows users to limit the browser's communication with certain websites thereby keeping users' information private. This feature relies on Tracking Protection Lists that enable users to control how their information is shared while online.
Microsoft has designed Internet Explorer 9 to take full advantage of Windows-based computer hardware, enabling developers to re-imagine the role of the browser by building graphically rich and immersive Web experiences that are as fast and responsive as applications installed on users' computers.
Using the feedback of millions of people who downloaded the Beta version, Microsoft has also made additional performance optimizations in order to decrease timer resolutions making the Release Candidate 35% faster than the Beta version. Furthermore, in response to a developer community request, Microsoft has added geolocation capabilities to the browser which will enable websites to understand where a user is located in order to deliver a more relevant experience.
Developers and designers from partners around the world are already showcasing how they have used the capabilities of Internet Explorer 9 to introduce a new user experience, resulting in an increase in page views and repeat visits to sites already incorporating IE9 features.
