Shell Showcases Local Success at "Britain in Kuwait"
Kuwait: Shell has joined a number of leading British businesses in Kuwait in taking part in the eighth Britain in Kuwait Exhibition at Salwa Al-Sabah Ballroom in Kuwait City that is being organised held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Prime Minister, and British Ambassador, Frank Baker.
The event gives Shell the opportunity to share the landmarks of the strategic partnership with Kuwait which extends over 60 years and its extensive technical expertise in the global oil and gas industry. The exhibition will also highlight some of the company's social initiatives focusing on Human Development, Road Safety and the Environment.
" Shell is proud to be part of the state wide celebrations for Kuwait's Golden Jubilee year to celebrate its independence, as well as, marking twenty years since the liberation, as well as the 5th anniversary of the ascendance of His Highness, The Amir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the Leadership of the State of Kuwait. It is an opportunity for our company to show its commitment to Kuwait as well as reaffirming its position as a trusted British business partner with Kuwait and its society," said Mr. Ahmed Mouti, Chairman of Shell Companies in Kuwait.
Initiatives from Shell in Kuwait include developing Kuwait's first natural gas discovery jointly with Kuwait Oil Company . Shell will bring its experience in managing and producing tight and sour gas to the complex Northern Jurassic Gas fields. Shell is also supporting Kuwait with a medium term solution to Energy deficits in the summer by delivering Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to Kuwait's floating terminal.
In addition,
Shell
held the 3R's environmental educational workshops, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle at Kuwait public and private schools. The workshops aim to give children hands on experiments to raise their environmental awareness. To date, over 2000 elementary students have graduated from 3R's workshops.

In 2009, Shell made its first Liquefied Natural Gas delivery to Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) floating terminal to help meet peak summer demand.
Kuwait Shell community initiatives have helped build and cement the trust and confidence of partners and the people of Kuwait. We run the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (3R) workshops programme, in collaboration with Mad Science, at various public and private schools within Kuwait. The 3R workshops serve as a platform to help elementary students explore environmental issues and realise the importance of the 3R principles.
Shell participates in annual events at Kuwait University and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), bringing our technical experts to Kuwait to share their global experience with Engineering students and KISR employees.
Working with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries, we hold best-practice and knowledge-sharing workshops on various topics and organise exchange trips to Shell facilities in order to enhance understanding of our technologies and applications. In addition, we support local non-profit organisations in Kuwait, such as Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamaia.
Looking ahead, Shell is committed to help Kuwait meet the local and global demand for energy in economically, environmentally and socially responsible ways. Early 2010, Shell and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) signed an Agreement for development of the Jurassic Gas fields. Under the agreement, Shell will deploy a number of technical experts to Kuwait through SKEP to support KOC in managing the ongoing development of the Jurassic Gas fields. In addition, Shell 's operational excellent and diverse LNG portfolio, supported signing an LNG supply contract to cover peak summer periods between April-October for the years 2010-2013.
