RJ ferries more Jordanians home from Egypt
Amman - Royal Jordanian RJ on Sunday sent two larger additional flights to Cairo to join four already scheduled to bring home Jordanians from Egypt where mass anti-government protests continued.
RJ Director General and CEO Hussein Dabbas said the flag carrier used two more aircraft, an Airbus-310 and Airbus-321, to speed up transportation of the largest possible number of Jordanians wishing to leave Egyp despite the difficulties facing airline representatives to access Cairo International Airport to help travelers.
But he said RJ is offering the necessary facilities to travelers in collaboration with the Jordanian embassy, noting that Jordanian nationals were boarding the flights without booking. The company had also cancelled previous fines on violations of travel regulations.
In a press statement sent to Petra, Dabbas said RJ had changed flight schedules to Cairo today to enable Jordanians to return home early, noting that the aircraft are returning to Amman at full capacity.
The statement said flights will continue in the next days, calling on travelers returning to Jordan to head to Cairo Airport directly without clearance from the RJ office in the Egyptian capital, which remained closed due to the current situation.
The statement added that RJ is also operating large planes to Alexandria and Sharm El Sheikh according to their schedule.
