This is the second run of the 'ExxonMobil BBS London Trip Science Essay Competition,' which was introduced by ExxonMobil last year, as part of its ongoing support of math and science education in Kuwait.
ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Kuwait Limited President, Dr. John Hoholick, said: " ExxonMobil has been in a continuous move towards building the skills of Kuwait's young scientists through educational initiatives and programs, with this essay competition as our most recent effort in stimulating student interest in math and science. We would like to thank BBS for providing us this opportunity to reach out to their students for the second year in a row. We hope our trip to ExxonMobil 's UK refinery will help them develop and learn more about the oil and gas industry."
ExxonMobil is an active global supporter in the education of math and science. In Kuwait, ExxonMobil co-founded the annual Kuwait Science Fair competition in 2008, Kuwait's largest math and science competition extending to more than 200 schools across the country. ExxonMobil also organized science trips beginning in 2008, giving over 50 students the opportunity to visit ExxonMobil 's ventures in London and Qatar.
Bayan Bilingual School Principal, Mr. Jihad Sadeddin, said: "We were thrilled to reintroduce ExxonMobil 's essay competition for the second consecutive year with a drive to encourage science education inside and outside the classroom. As educators, it brings us great joy to witness students the researching and brainstorming during break-hours and on their own time. We are very proud of our winning students, and we look forward in hearing about their educational adventures in London."
Founded in 1977, BBS is a non-profit Arabic-English university preparatory educational institution in Kuwait, which fosters an environment for students to develop intellectual qualities, ethical values, and positive attitudes required for effective participation and leadership in the overall development of Kuwait and the rapidly changing world.
