GE showcases its 'smart' WattStation
ABU DHABI -- General Electric (GE) marked its participation at the World Future Energy Summit 2011 with the unveiling of its 'smart' WattStation electric vehicle charger in the Middle East.Launched in 2010, GE 's WattStation is an easy-to-use electric vehicle (EV) charger that enables fast recharging at home and on the road. It is designed to help accelerate the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles by significantly decreasing time needed for vehicle charging.
Joe Anis, GE Energy's region executive for the Middle East, said: "At GE , we believe that the key to a sustainable energy future lies in cleaner, smarter and more energy efficient solutions for the whole value chain - from generation to transmission & distribution as well as end-user consumption. We are committed to partnering with the region to deliver advanced solutions such as the Smart Grid -- which we are showcasing at WFES."
By using smart grid technology, GE 's WattStation allows utility companies to manage the impact of electric vehicles on the local and regional grids. The modular design is upgradable and enables customers to stay current with the latest technology in a rapidly changing space. GE WattStation's easy functionality and design allows for the integration of quick electric vehicle charging into every day activities.
