ExxonMobil chairman congratulates Qatar
DOHA: ExxonMobil congratulated Qatar on becoming the world's largest producer of liquefied natural gas at a ceremony today marking the production capacity milestone of 77 million tones per annum (MTA).The event was celebrated in Ras Laffan Industrial City at a ceremony under the patronage and in the presence of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah the Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry. Also present were Rex W Tillerson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil Corporation , ministers, senior government officials and delegations from Qatar Petroleum , Qatargas and RasGas.
"I would personally like to congratulate both the Emir and Al Attiyah for this incredible achievement," said Tillerson. "Qatar's visionary leadership and the remarkable story of its natural gas development are truly an inspiration. We are honored to be part of this major accomplishment."
Combining the unique strengths of Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil in a model partnership enabled the development of innovative solutions resulting in the extremely successful LNG business Qatar has today. ExxonMobil delivered advanced technologies, strong project execution and economies of scale to reduce the cost of producing and transporting LNG, thereby extending the ability of Qatar Petroleum , Qatargas and RasGas to help meet energy requirements around the world.
Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil have brought teamwork and technology together through large-scale LNG joint venture projects that help support the economic growth and well-being of Qatar while successfully developing the capabilities of Qatari nationals, a key objective of the State of Qatar. ExxonMobil has a proven record of job creation, outstanding training and career development and support for local industry. ExxonMobil does this through investment, employment, assistance with education and training, the transfer of knowledge and skills, and the purchase of goods and services.
