Arab Obs-Gyne association signs MoU to host their annual meet in Dubai
Largest ever regional gathering of obstetricians and gynaecologists at the Obs-Gyne Exhibition and Congress
This scientific exchange will also see the launch of the Arab Society of Cervical Cancer, a World Health Organisation (WHO) registered organisation. The aim of this new society is to reduce the chances of developing cervical cancer by making regular screening and vaccination a must for all women in the region.
The AAOGS was established in 1993 and is composed of 18 members of Arab Societies of Obs and Gyne, and has five scientific groups; The Arab Fetomaternal Group, The Arab Fertility and Assisted Reproduction Group, The Arab Menopause Group, The Arab Gyn-Oncology Group and The Arab Gyn-Urology Group. The Scientific Congress of the Association is held annually in different Arab cities and is attended by representatives from the Pan-Arab Societies.
Dr Shamsa Al Awar, Senior Consultant OB-GYN at the Al Ain Hospital, who represents AAOGS in the UAE, believes the country is the perfect location to further enhance Pan Arab cooperation and to standardise practices in the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology.
Also running along side the Arabic Congress in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, is the 3rd Middle East Breast Cancer Conference, CME accredited by Cleveland Clinic, and the new Middle East Midwifery Conference which is regionally accredited by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and will focus on antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care as well as obstetric emergencies and midwifery education.
In addition to the formal educational content provided through the various conferences, an exhibition co-located with the Congress offers a platform to present the latest technologies and product launches from manufacturers and distributors to a highly specialised audience including gynecologists, nurses, obstetricians, oncologists, sonographers and surgeons amongst others. Products exhibited include ultrasound diagnostics equipment, scanners, sensors, cryosurgery instruments, as well as prescription and non-prescription medicines.
