Qtel plans tie-up with QIA
Doha: Qtel is going to invest in the information technology and communications sectors abroad with the collaboration of Qatar Investment Authority ( QIA ), Chairman of Qtel , H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani said in an interview to a local Arabic daily. He said that the foreign investment idea will help diversify Qatar economy by reducing the dependency on the revenue of petrochemicals in the general budget to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030. Qtel is diversifying the national economy by investing in international markets as well as it is pumping returns and bringing new technologies to the country, he said.There are several projects of Qtel which will be launched in 2011.We are working out on fiber-optic communication systems that will connect the homes in Qatar with high speed Internet network. We will deliver some new services including 100megabites per second fast Internet, telephone connection, HD telephones ect. Moreover, some others unique electronic services will also be available on request such as video games, Sheikh Abdullah Said.
"We will also provide money transfer service through mobile phones so our customers can send the money to their home countries through their mobiles. As well as database services and other entertainment services will also be delivered. We are proud of it", the Chairman said.
