EMPOWER's employee numbers rose 34% in 2010, driven by increased demand for district cooling
Continuing hiring is reflection of growing demand for district cooling in Dubai
Ahmed Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower , said: "The increase in number of employees was to meet the growing needs for district cooling systems in the region, which rose by 45%."
Bin Shafar added: "We follow a rational policy in hiring new employees. This year's increase is related to the actual use of the district cooling systems as a result of the increase in the buildings in the several real estate projects serviced by the company, such as Business Bay where 20 buildings were added to our coverage for district cooling systems, in addition to the Mirdif Project that is now being fully operating."
"This increase in the number of employees is not only due to the remarkable increase in the district cooling plants this year but also the launch of the customer service centre has required more workforce. All this comes in the company's plans to expand its footprint across Dubai," he added.
On training the personnel, Bin Shafar added: "Training our human resources is a top priority. We believe that the human capacity is the primary contributor in strengthening our leading position in the region and the world."
EMPOWER is providing the high quality district cooling system which reduce energy consumption unlike the traditional air conditioning systems.

About
Empower
:
Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (
Empower
) is a joint venture between Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM) Investments and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), created to provide energy-efficient district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments.
Empower
plans to diversify into other energy efficiency and conservation services.
Empower
's district cooling systems (DCS) provide effective and efficient means of air conditioning. Water is cooled in central plants and distributed through a network of piping systems to individual customer buildings. DCS achieves economies of scale by using centralised plants instead of individual cooling units in each building. The centralised system results in reduced capital and operating costs, thus reducing air-conditioning set-up and energy costs per building.
Empower
is set to become one of the largest district cooling companies in the region.
