Carillion wins Air Traffic Control Tower contract
MUSCAT -- International construction and support services group Carillion's Oman joint venture has won contracts worth more than £100 million (RO 62 million), including a deal to build an Air Traffic Control Tower at Muscat International Airport . Carillion Alawi had been awarded three construction contracts and a facilities management contract, the Group said in a press release.The largest of the three construction contracts is from the Ministry of Transport and Communications . This is to design and build a new air traffic control tower at Muscat International Airport , together with a number of ancillary buildings, including an air traffic and meteorology complex, a crash, fire and rescue facility, a data centre and training facilities. Work on these new facilities, which form part of the expansion of Muscat International Airport , will start later this month and is scheduled for completion early in 2015.
Carillion Alawi has also been awarded two further construction contracts -- a 13-month contract for Sahara Hospitality to extend the permanent accommodation facilities at Petroleum Development Oman 's Nim'r oil field, and a nine-month contract for an extension and associated works at the Barr Al Jissah Resort.
Carillion Alawi has secured a three-year integrated facilities management contract for BankMuscat's new headquarters, which is a significant win in the small but growing facilities management market in Oman, and in line with Carillion's strategy for developing its support services business in the Middle East.
Carillion CEO John McDonough said: "We are delighted that Carillion Alawi has been awarded these prestigious contracts, which reflect its well-established reputation for quality and delivery in Oman's strong construction market and its growing presence in the emerging facilities management market in Oman."
