Freighter service launched at DWC

DUBAI -- Following the successful opening of Al Maktoum International for cargo operations, Dubai World Central ( DWC ) on Tuesday announced the launch of Panalpina's scheduled freighter service.

One of the world's leading logistics providers, Panalpina will use DWC 's state-of-the-art logistics facilities to expand their operations across the region.

With the arrival of a full, all-cargo B747F aircraft on October 15, the global forwarding and logistics group is connecting Luxembourg with Hong Kong twice weekly, via the new Dubai World Central , Al Maktoum International Airport . This is part of the freighter's world rotation connecting Luxembourg, Dubai, South Africa, Hong Kong, North America and Latin America.

The 140-square kilometre Dubai World Central is part of the Dubai Government's overall 2015 strategy to enhance the emirate's transport and logistics services and capitalise on its geographical location to make Dubai a regional hub for logistics. Over 50 leading international companies have already committed to establish a base in DWC , with growing interest from a number of multinational companies.
