Kia Motors' Peter Schreyer ranked world's best automobile designer

(Amman, 21st September, 2010) Kia Motors ' Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer was ranked the world's best automobile designer in a survey published in the September issue of the renowned British automotive enthusiast publication, Car Magazine.

The German designer was ranked number one in a top-ten list that featured renowned designers working for leading automobile brands around the world. Over the last few years, Schreyer became well-known for his inclination to create a revolutionary shift in automobile designs - a vision that fell in line with that of Kia Motors Corporation . In 2006, Schreyer joined Kia 's team as Chief Design Officer and has since then succeeded in realizing the company's vision of creating more than mere transport vehicles but statements in design, comfort and performance.

A substantial number of models from Kia 's lineup carry Schreyer's signature, including the Kia Cerato, the Cerato Koupe, the Sorento, the Cadenza, and the recently released Kia Sportage. These models boast contemporary designs that have garnered rave reviews from experts and customers worldwide.

Schreyer was born in 1953 in Reichenhall, Bavaria, Germany, and began studying in 1975 at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. He worked with Audi first as a student in 1978, graduating in 1979 with his Industrial Design degree. Subsequently, Schreyer won the Audi Scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, London from 1979-1980 as a transportation design student. In 1980, he returned to work for Audi in the areas of exterior, interior and conceptual design, moving to the company's California design studio in 1991.

Schreyer received an honorary PhD from the Royal College of Art in recognition of his accomplishments in the field of automobile design. He is the third designer in the world to receive this notable recognition after renowned designers Sergio Pininfarina and Giorgetto Giugiaro.
