Iran: Foreigners invest $5b in petchem development

TEHRAN -- The director of Iran National Petrochemical Company stated that 10 foreign investors have participated an amount of $5.1 billion to develop petrochemical projects in the country.

Abdolhossein Bayat added that the company has founded an independent firm in the UK to attract foreign investors and supply finance, and is currently negotiating regarding three large projects worth $2.2 billion with foreign investors, IRINN reported.

The deputy oil minister said that last year Iran produced 4.34 million tons of petrochemical products which is 95 percent of the target forecasted in the national development plan.
