Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International Awarded Aerodrome Certificate by GCAA
29 June 2010 Dubai, UAE: Following the comprehensive aviation safety and security certification programme carried out by the General Civil Aviation Authority covering all aerodrome operational disciplines of the Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International (DWC), the Aerodrome Certificate was officially handed over to the Dubai Airports on 27th June 2010.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA presented the Aerodrome Certificate to HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports during a ceremony held in Dubai Airports that preceded the official opening of Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International for cargo operations.
"We are pleased to announce that Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International has been issued with an Aerodrome License." said Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA .
GCAA Inspectors responsible for regulation and safety oversight conducted many comprehensive certification audits and inspections, while maintaining a close contact with aerodrome developers, including providing guidance and direction to ensure regulatory requirements and best industry practice were achieved. Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International 's development team over the past few weeks demonstrated to the Authority that an acceptable level of safety and security exists within all operational areas. This concludes the initial phase of the development with operations commencing with mail and cargo flights for precision approach runway Category I.
