DHA Director General tours awareness fair held to promote international accreditations.
United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 10 June, 2010: The Director General of the DHA toured an awareness fair organized by DHA 's hospital services sector which was held to highlight the importance of international accreditations.
The aim of the one-day event, known as the JAP fair - Joint Commission International ( JCI) Awareness Program, is to provide health centres and hospitals with details of how to ensure they meet all the requirements ahead of the reaccreditation of the JCI certification this year.
His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the DHA said during his speech, "Hospital accreditation is crucial for improving quality and patient safety. This is also a vision of our Ruler who has highlighted in the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, the need for hospitals and health centers to obtain international accreditations. Accreditation of our hospitals, health care organizations and polyclinics is one of the tools to further improve and strengthen our healthcare system."
He mentioned that it is the aim of the DHA is to ensure these hospitals further apply for specialized accreditations in specific areas of medicine. This was achieved in Janurary 2010, when Rashid Hospital's Cardiology Section received a JCI accreditation for their unit. The hospital received an international accreditation for the best practises they follow in the cardiology department. With this accreditation, Rashid Hospital is the only hospital in the Middle East to get a disease specific certification for the cardiology section from JCI.
